Postdoctoral position in Immunology

Duties/Project description 

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Professor Mia Phillipson, Scientific Director at SciLifeLab at Uppsala University, for an applicant with expertise in in vivo imaging. Applicants with expertise in either in vivo studies including comprehensive surgery in mice or advanced confocal microscopy will also be considered. The candidate is expected to use genetically modified mouse models and a range of techniques to investigate the wide set of functions of immune cells during inflammation and tissue restitution following injury, as well as during homeostasis and development.

Our group is a young, dynamic and very enthusiastic research team with a well-established collaborative network and strong funding. The Phillipson lab is equipped with state of the art technologies that enable in vivo observations of intravascular leukocyte-platelet-endothelial cell interactions, blood flow, mucus dynamics, and bacterial interactions epithelium and immune cells. Several of our imaging setups are partly developed in-house and used in conjunction with our expertise in physiology to enable
longitudinal in vivo studies. In addition to our high speed confocal in vivo microscopes, we also have at our disposal several other types of microscopes as well as flow cytometry, cell sorting, protein and gene array techniques and bioinformatics support at our department of Medical Cell Biology and SciLifeLab. Our lab is part of a dynamic research community exploring immune cells functions in vivo as part of SciLifeLab, Uppsala University, and has a strong translational focus and experience of successful spin-offs now in clinical phase.

To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in X. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced candidate with good track record. The successful candidate is expected to bring new knowledge and lead high quality research projects from the design and performance to publication to be carried out in collaboration with the project team and other group members.
